You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Cosmos atrosanguineus.
This lovely herbaceous perennial offers single maroon coloured flowers in summer and autumn. The flowers have a chocolate fragrance.
The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position and it can handle most soil types with good drainage (it likes moist soil, not wet soil).
A hardy plant, it should grow to about 50cm high by 50cm wide.
