You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Description

Solidago canadensis. 1.1L coir pot.

Native to North America, this upright perennial herb from the sunflower family was / is used medicinally by native Indian tribes to treat snake bite, fever, diarrhoea and wounds, among many other things.

It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and apparently flatulence-reducing properties.

A tea can be made from the leaves and flowers.

The plant enjoys a full sun position in well draining soil and should grow around 1m in height.

It can spread rather vigorously, so growing it in a large container might be preferable for some.

Lovely yellow flowers should appear in summer.
