This perennial herb native to China, is a member of the pea family. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.
The dried root is taken as a tea or decoction and is said to strengthen the respiratory tract, treat allergies, aide the immune system, lower blood pressure, strengthen the cardiac system and assist with lack of appetite and fatigue.
Huang Qi is an antioxidant, immunostimulant, adaptogen and has apparent anti-cancer, nervine and anti-viral properties.
This bushy herb likes a full sun position in sandy, alkaline soil and is hardy once established.
