Description

Valeriana officinalis.

This lovely perennial offers fragrant white to pink flowers in spring and summer, which will help to attract pollinators to the garden. It is also believed to stimulate earthworm activity in the soil.

The fresh roots can be made into a tea, assisting with insomnia and anxiety.

The plant is a great addition to compost as it is rich in potassium, zinc, phosphorus and magnesium.

This hardy plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in moist soil and should grow to about 1.3m in height.
