Description
Solandra maxima. 13cm coir pot.
Native to Central and South America, this fast-growing, woody, evergreen vine offers big, yellow, coconut-scented flowers that appear on new growth.
All parts are highly toxic and can cause hallucinations, paralysis and severe poisoning if ingested.
It’s believed parts of the plant were traditionally used to prepare psychoactive brews or decoctions.
The plant enjoys a full sun position in fertile, well draining soil and should grow around 10m high in the garden (but can be pruned to a manageable size).
Grow on a trellis or support.
