Native to the USA, this hardy perennial has been used as a mild sedative and nerve tonic.
The freshly picked leaves are often taken as a tea. It is believed to assist with insomnia, headaches, exhaustion, anxiety, menstrual tension and stress. It is believed to have anti-spasmodic properties.
This low spreading herb prefers part shade conditions. It will go dormant in winter then grow back vigorously in spring.
