Description
Cunila origanoides.
Native to the Eastern United States, this perennial offers lovely fragrant edible leaves.
It is closely related to Marjoram and Oregano and is not a true Mint.
It should grow about 60cm high by 60cm wide.
The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position and can handle various soil types with good drainage. It’s important not to overwater the plant.
Stone Mint was traditionally used to treat fevers, headaches, snake and insect bites (among other things). Often taken as a tea, the leaves were said to help with bloating, flatulence, heartburn and upset stomachs.
