Native to the tropical regions of the Indian subcontinent, this herbaceous vine is used in Ayurvedic preparations to treat various disorders.
The plant has reported medicinal properties including anti-arthritic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-periodic, anti-oxidant, anti-spasmodic, anti-allergic and anti-stress, among others.
The tiny flowers are greenish-yellow in colour and the fruit is small and red.
The plant extensively spreads and climbs and it enjoys a full sun to part shade position in well draining soil.
