Native to South America, this fast-growing perennial produces edible starchy rhizomes, which are often used as a substitute for potatoes.
Can be used as a flour substitute too.
The young shoots are also edible and can be used as a green vegetable.
Great as a chop and drop mulch.
Arrowroot enjoys a full sun to part shade position in fertile soil, although it can handle most soil types.
It should grow about 2m in height. Ideal for screening.
