You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Bitter Leaf – Vernonia amygdalina. 1.1L coir pot.

Native to Africa, this evergreen shrub is a valued food and medicine plant.

The leaves can be used in tea and juices or steamed and added to soups and stews. They can also be used to make beer.

The plant has been traditionally used to treat stomach problems, eczema, rashes, nausea, fever symptoms and high blood sugar (among many others issues).

The leaves are high in minerals, fibre, proteins and vitamins A, C, E, B1 and B2.

The leaves have anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties (among others).

The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position and usually grows to around 3m in height in the garden.
