This hardy South African medicinal plant is drought-tolerant and will grow to about 1.5m in height. It isn’t often grown outside of its native land.
In winter, bright red flowers will appear, followed by amazing balloon-like seed pods.
Traditionally drank as a tea, this plant is believed by some to have anti-cancer, anti-tumour, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties.
