Description
Taraxacum officinale. 1.1L coir pot.
This plant is often mistaken as a common weed but the true dandelion is a great perennial herb that grows in temperate regions around the world.
The plant has been used for thousands of years and has traditionally been used to treat skin problems, diarrhoea, gall-bladder problems, diabetes, liver problems and kidney disease. It is also used to improve general digestion.
The flowers are edible and make a nice addition to a salad. The leaves make a great salad green whilst the tap root can be dried and used as a coffee substitute. The leaves (and to a lesser degree, the roots) are most commonly used in tea. The leaves and roots are high in minerals and vitamins and the dandelion is universally recognised as an excellent tonic plant.
The plant enjoys full sun to part shade conditions.
