You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Description

Plectranthus caninus (syn: Coleus caninus). 1.1L coir pot.

This is not a culinary herb but it still has so much to offer. It’s super-hardy and has fantastic displays of lavender coloured and shaped flowers throughout winter. It also flowers intermittently throughout the year. It is often used in potpourri with other aromatic plants. Prune well after flowering.

Dogbane likes a hot, dry, full sun position in slightly alkaline soils (although it will handle most soil types easily). It’ll grow to about 30cm high by 1.2m wide.

Some people plant Dogbane in areas where they want to deter dogs and cats. Although it is also known as the ‘Scaredy Cat Plant’, there is no real evidence that it repels pets.
