You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Description

Cissus quadrangularis. 3.7L coir pot.

This perennial herb is a member of the grape family and is rather rare outside its native India. It is traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Siddha medicines and treatments in India and Sri Lanka.

This plant is rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C. The leaves and stems are often dried and used in tea. Regular use is said to benefit joint and bone ailments. It is considered a tonic and analgesic. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and contains anti-oxidants. Often used as a muscle relaxant, it is also shown to be useful as a weight loss supplement.

Ideal for pots, this succulent-like plant is water wise and drought tolerant and prefers a full sun position.

Growing to around 1.5m in height, it has quadrangular sectioned branches.

It has small white, yellow or greenish flowers and globular berries which are red when ripe.
