Native to Madagascar, this plant is believed to be extinct in the wild.
The trunk stores water.
The seeds are rich in edible oil and flocculating proteins, and the fern-like leaves can be eaten as a green vegetable.

The plant enjoys a full sun position in well draining soil, and should grow around 10m high or more in the garden.
Ideal for arid locations.
