You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Native to central and southern Chile, this evergreen perennial shrub offers yellow tubular, fuchsia-like flowers.
The foliage is quite pungent when crushed.
The plant grows around 2m high, and it enjoys a full sun position in free draining soil.
Infusions of the plant have been used in Chilean folk medicine.
A yellow dye can be extracted from the leaves and stems.
