Description

Catha edulis f. green. 3.7L coir pot.

Native to eastern and southern Africa, this slow-growing, evergreen shrub / tree is a lovely addition to the garden.

The plant has historical relevance dating back thousands of years, with men in particular chewing the leaves as a social custom and for a euphoric effect.

The plant has traditionally been grown for use as a stimulant, with the leaves being harvested several times a year.

The bitter-tasting leaves are often chewed or sometimes dried and consumed as a tea.

The consumption and distribution of harvested leaves is illegal in Australia.

The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in well draining soil, and should grow around 2m – 5m high in the garden.

White flowers.
