Mint ‘Basil’ 1.1L coir

$7.00

You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within two months. Alternatively, you can use it as a decorative pot plant as the coir pot will last between 12-18 months (then you can plant it in the ground).

Description

Mentha sp ‘Basil’.

This hardy perennial tastes like sweet basil and adds a citrus / spice flavour to meals with a hint of mint.

The leaves will add an exotic flavour to fish, salads, soups and vegetables. When using in hot dishes, add the mint late as the mint fragrance fades quickly under heat.

The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position but can tolerate lower light levels. It enjoys moist, well draining soils and can be grown easily in pots.

This plant should grow to about 45cm high by 100cm wide and requires adequate watering in summer. Cut back once a year (generally in autumn) to keep it under control and promote new growth.
