Description
Mentha x piperita ‘Julep’. 1.1L coir pot.
This strongly-scented cultivar has a powerful spearmint flavour with the traditional Mint Julep taste.
It makes a refreshing tea and can be combined with other mints or lime verbena in particular.
The plant enjoys a full sun position in moist, well-draining soil, and should grow about 80cm high by 80cm wide.
If you don’t want it spreading in the garden, grow it in a pot.
The Mint Julep cocktail is believed to have originated in Kentucky in the eighteenth century. The original recipe is 20ml of water, 10ml sugar syrup and four springs of mint placed in a glass of cracked ice. Then 60ml of Kentucky Bourbon is added and garnished with mint leaves.
