Description
Podocarpus elatus. 3.7L coir pot.
Native to the east coast of Australia, this rainforest pine tree offers an interesting plum-like fruit, high in Vitamin C, that can be used in sweet and savoury dishes.
The fruit has two parts, a purple berry and a hard inedible seed.
You’ll need both male and female trees to produce fruit. Mine are grown from seed.
The tree is fairly slow growing and is ideal for containers and hedging.
As the tree is salt tolerant, it is ideal for coastal plantings.
It enjoys a full sun / part shade position in free draining soil and should grow around 8m high by 4m wide.
