Native to northern Europe, this hardy, deciduous shrub offers tart, translucent red berries during summer.
The fruit is high in vitamin C, and can be eaten straight from the plant, or used to make cordial, baked goods, jams, jellies and sauces.
The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in fertile, free draining soil, and should grow around 1.5m high by 1.5m wide. Protect plants from the hot afternoon summer sun.
