Description
Tecticornia lepidosperma. Also known as Sea Beans, Glasswort, Pickleweed and Sea Asparagus (among others).
This hardy WA native is a salt-tolerant succulent that is a very important part of our coastal ecosystem.
The crunchy leaves are edible and pack a lovely salty taste. They’re a good source of iron, calcium and vitamin A.
The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in sandy, well draining soil and it should grow to about 55cm in height.
