Description
Rumex acetosella. 1.1L coir pot.
This clumping, low-growing perennial has a long history of medicinal use, and has been used to treat vitamin deficiencies and as an anti-inflammatory. It has also been used topically as a wash to treat eczema and skin rashes.
The leaves have a tart flavour and can be used in salads and soups. They do contain a small amount of oxalic acid, so don’t eat the raw leaves every day.
The plant enjoys a moist, well draining soil in a part shade position. It can handle full sun but it doesn’t like extremely hot weather.
The plant reaches about 30cm in height when in flower. The yellow flowers are tiny and they turn into brown / red seeds.
