You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Native to South America, this fast-growing, evergreen perennial offers edible leaves and pretty pink flowers.
The leaves can be eaten raw or used in stir-fries. The leaves are high in oxalic acid, so eat them in moderation.
The plant enjoys a warm, part shade position in moist, well-draining soil and grows around 50cm in height.
