Description
Thymus x citriodorus ‘Variegatus’. 1.1L coir pot.
With it’s cream and grey, lemon scented foliage and pink / mauve flowers that appear in summer, this pretty thyme is hardy and easy to grow.
Both the flowers and foliage are edible and add a citrus and thyme flavour to salads. High in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, this thyme is great for enhancing the flavours of fish and poultry. The leaves are ideal for stuffings and are great for lightly cooked green vegetables when added with basil and garlic.
The plant enjoys a full sun position with good air movement in dry, well draining soil. It requires minimal watering and will die in heavy, wet soils.
It’ll grow to about 30cm high by 40cm wide. It will benefit from a hard prune in late summer.
