You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within two months. Alternatively, you can use it as a decorative pot plant as the coir pot will last between 12-18 months (then you can plant it in the ground).

Description

Elettaria cardamomum.

This is one of my favourite plants, for it offers so much. The dark green leaves are highly fragrant and have a sweet spicy smell that is heightened when they are rubbed or crushed.

The flowers are white with purple – pink stripes.

Shortly after flowering, seed capsules will appear, which are used for cooking.

The plant enjoys a part shade position in fertile, well drained soil.

It’ll grow roughly 1.5m high by 1.5m wide.

Ideal for containers or for use as an indoor plant.
