Rosemary is a traditional herb with numerous uses.
Rosemary tea is popular in helping digestion, relaxation, prolonging a good memory and organ function. The leaves are high in vitamin E and antioxidants.
The benefits of cooking with the plant are generally known. The flavours work well with most meats, baked bread, potatoes and tomatoes as well as with herbs such as garlic, oregano, sage and thyme.
This upright shrub has the classic fragrant deep grey – green leaves and produces white flowers.
The plant enjoys a full sun position in most dry, well drained soils with good air movement. A hardy plant, it should grow to about 1.2m high by 1m wide.
It can be grown in large pots and is suitable for hedging and topiary. If it starts to get too big, it can easily handle a hard prune in autumn.
