Also known as Glastum, Isatis or Dyer’s Woad.
For hundreds of years, the leaves of this biennial / perennial plant have been used to produce a valuable blue dye.
Native to Europe and Asia, this herb should grow to around 1m in height and offer yellow flowers in spring and summer. It can handle most soil types and positions. It is fairly hardy and can tolerate frost and drought.
Woad has been used in Chinese medicine for hundreds of years to help treat urinary tract infections and to offer immune system support.
