Native to Europe, this herbaceous perennial has been used medicinally and in witchcraft from ancient times.
Taken as a tea made from the leaves and flowers, it was traditionally used to aid digestion, for coughs and colds, for addictions, as a nerving tonic and aid acute and chronic pain. It is also smoked to help relieve headaches.
Modern herbalism uses the plant to treat headaches, migraines, heartburn, anxiety and tension.
The plant prefers part shade.
