This perennial shrub is native to western Europe and is traditionally used to treat colds and flus and infections of the respiratory tract. It is also used internally to treat flatulence and rheumatism and externally to treat boils and wounds.
The flowers and leaves are often dried and taken in a tea.
The plant is believed to have anti-rheumatic, carminative, diaphoretic and anti-microbial properties.
Well-suited to pots, this low-growing plant enjoys full sun to part shade conditions. Greenish-yellow flowers will appear in summer and they should attract loads of bees.
