Description
Ajuga reptans. Also known as Blue Bugle Flower, Blue Bugle, Bugleherb, Bugleweed and Carpetweed (among others).
This perennial herb is a wonderful weed-suppressing ground cover.
Blue flowers appear in spring.
The plant enjoys a moist part shade position but can handle sun if well watered, especially during Perth’s summers.
The plant can handle various soil types and should grow around 15cm high by 60cm wide.
Bugle if often referred to as Carpenter’s Herb for its apparent ability to stem bleeding. The plant has been used in tea in traditional Austrian medicine to treat respiratory tract disorders.
