You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

Description

Theobroma cacoa. 3.7L coir pot.

Native to the Amazon basin, this evergreen tree is sometimes called ‘the chocolate tree’.

Small, yellow scented flowers are followed by large pods that contain the seeds, known as cocoa beans.

The edible beans are used to make chocolate, cocao and cocoa, among other things.

Cocoa beans are high in antioxidants and have been used to treat anaemia, fever and mental fatigue, to name a few.

Does best in hot, wet, tropical climates with high humidity.

The plant enjoys a part shade position in fertile, well draining soil, and should grow about 4m high in the garden.
