Description
Malpighia glabra. 19cm coir pot.
Native to southern North America, Central America and throughout the Caribbean, this evergreen shrub / small tree offers lovely cherry-red fruit.
The fruit is high in vitamin C and can be eaten raw or cooked.
The fruit has traditionally been used medicinally to assist with coughs, colds, diarrhoea and liver problems, among other things.
The plant enjoys a full sun position in well draining soil, and should grow around 3m – 6m high.
