Description
Tecticornia pergranulata. 3.7L coir pot.
Found on the salty flats of Southern Australia (in particular the Mildura region of the Murray-Darling basin), this perennial shrubby succulent offers aromatic and crunchy young shoots which are full of salty flavour, and highly nutritious.
Indigenous Australians have foraged these plants for tens of thousands of years, not only for the succulent shoots, but for the seeds, which were used to make a kind of cake.
Growing to about 1m in height, the plant enjoys a full sun position in sandy soil.
