Brugmansia have traditionally played a prominent role in South American, Andean and Amazonian medicine and shamanic practices for centuries.
All parts of the plant, especially the leaves and the flowers, have been used in traditional medicine. Saying that, please note all parts of the plant are toxic. If consumed, symptoms may include difficulty with speech, vomiting, confusion, hallucinations, seizures, delirium, and coma, among others.
‘Burnt Orange’ is a popular cultivar. The big bell-shaped orange flowers are stunning, and they emit a lovely fragrance in the evening.
The plant grows to about 3m high by 2m wide. It enjoys a full sun / part shade position and can handle a variety of soil types with good drainage.
