Description

Alpinia nutans. 1.1L coir pot.

Not a true Cardamom, this hardy herb has large green foliage that offers a lovely spicy aroma.

In cooking, the leaves can be used in the same way you would use cloves or bay leaves. They’re ideal for soups, Asian-style curries and stir-fries.

The leaves and flowers can also be used in tea to add a flavour similar to chai.

The flowers are edible.

The leaves can be dried and used in pot pourri.

The plant is believed to have anti-fungal, anti-ulcer and diuretic properties.

Ideal as an indoor plant.

If growing outdoors, the plant enjoys a part shade position and can handle most soil types.

It should grow to about 1m high by 1m wide.
