You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.

This is a very popular variety, offering large, sweet fruit in summer.
A self-fertile, almost thornless perennial, this plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in rich, organic soil, and should grow about 1.5m high by 1.5m wide.
Gooseberry plants like the cold. They perform well in areas with frost and long cold winters.
During the first winter, prune the plant to around 3-4 shoots, then 6-8 shoots during future winters.
