You can plant the coir pot directly into the ground, which will eliminate root disturbance and help keep your plant happy. The roots will make their way through the pot and into the soil. The pot itself will decompose within about two months in healthy, watered soil.
Corylus avellana ‘Butler’. 3.7L coir pot.
This is a commercially grown variety and a good cross-pollinator with ‘Lewis’.
Trees will start cropping around four years of age, with strong production from around seven years.
The plant enjoys a full sun to part shade position in well-draining soil, and should grow around 3m high by 5m wide.
