Description
Basella alba ‘Rubra’. 1.1L coir pot.
Not a true spinach, this fast-growing annual vine offers leaves that are similar to spinach in taste and form.
The plant enjoys a warm, full sun position and it can handle a variety of soil types with good drainage.
The succulent leaves and stem tips are high in vitamins A and C and are a good source of calcium and iron. The leaves can be eaten raw or stir-fried, boiled or steamed. The red colour can diminish when cooked.
