Description
Persicaria odorata. 1.1L coir pot.
Native to South East Asia, this creeping perennial offers aromatic leaves with a peppery taste (similar to coriander), which are popular in cooking and health supplements.
The leaves have traditionally been used to make tea, and to help treat stomach complaints, nausea, acne, swellings and fever, among other things. Steam baths with the leaves are believed to improve hair and skin condition.
Best suited to warm climates, the plant prefers a dappled shade position in fertile, moist, well draining soil, but it can handle full sun with sufficient watering.
It’ll grow about 40cm high by 1m wide, and is ideal for containers.
The plant can be brought inside over winter and treated as an indoor plant.
