Description
Piper nigrum. 3.7L coir pot.
Native to India, this fast growing, flowering vine enjoys a part shade position, and grows about 4m high by 2m wide.
Berries are produced on pendulous spikes, and they turn red when fully ripe. They can be dried with the skin on and used as black peppercorns. Depending on what stage the berries are picked, and how they’re processed, you can also result in green peppercorns and white peppercorns.
The flowers are pollinated by rain, so overhead watering when the plant is in flower, can help improve productivity.
