Description
Tasmannia lanceolata. Female. 3.7L coir pot.
This evergreen shrub produces small creamy white / yellow flowers in spring, which turn into red, then black pepper berries (if you have male and female plants).
The berries, flowers and leaves can be eaten fresh or dried, and they’ll add a peppery taste to meals.
The plant is fairly hardy, preferring moist, fertile, well-draining soils in part shade positions.
It should grow around three to five metres in height, but it can easily be maintained to a smaller size.
Medicinally, the plant has been used to treat stomach aches, colic and skin disorders.
